1. College started in the year 1889

7. Campus networking, internet facilities in  the entire campus, computerized library transactions, and office automation

The Mile Stones

1. In the year 1919,  the present premises was purchased.
2. In 1925 the College became a First grade College.
3. In the year 1937, the College moved to the present premises.
4. In 1941, the P.M.Sankara Iyer Hall came into existence
5. In 1946-47 college got affiliation for B.A. Mathematics and B.A. Economics
6. In 1947-48 college got affiliation for B.Com.
7. In 1949-50  college got affiliation for B.Sc Maths & Physics
8. In 1950-51 college got affiliation for B.Sc. Chemistry
9. In 1947 The T.V.S. Hostel came up thanks to the benevolence of T.V.Sundaram Iyengar & Sons
10. In 1949 Harvey Library was built  thanks to the benevolence of Madura Mills
11. In 1950 The Gajana Babu Rao Hostel was constructed with the contribution from  his family
12. In 1956 The Pre University Course was started as per the revised regulations of The Madras University
13. In 1957 The Three Year Degree Course was introduced in

3. B.Sc. Mathematics
4. B.Sc. Physics
5. B.Sc. Chemistry &
6. B.Sc. Botany
14. In 1958 M.Sc. Mathematics and M.Sc. Physics were started.
15. In 1959 M.Sc. Chemistry was introduced.

18. In 1989-90 the College celebrated its Centenary
19. In 1997-98 the college became a Co-educational institution
20. In 2003 NAAC Accredidation at B++
21. In 2003 with the assistance of Constituency Development Fund made available to the college by Sri.P.Mohan, Member of Parliament, the ground floor of the Mohan block was constructed..
22. In 2004 the first floor of The Mohan Block was constructed with assistance from the Parliamentary Funds made available to the college by Sri.Cho S.Ramasami, Member of Rajya Sabha.
23. Integrated Ramanujan Computer Training and Browsing Centre was built by the Management in the year 2005.
24. In 2005 a building with around 2100 sq.ft. area is built near the Duraisamy Block, thanks to Mr.M.Krishnamoorthy, a Philanthropist of Madurai
25.  In 2006 the Health Centre and The Sky Watcher’s Room were constructed with the assistance of UGC  X Plan Fund.
26.  In February 2009, Autonomous status  was extended upto 2014.
27. The College was re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.32
28. Starting of M.Phil programmes in Mathematics & Economics from the academic year 2010-11
29. Research centre in Economics from the academic year 2010-11
